Information on some of our previous field trip is given below.
Ebey's Landing (Whidbey Island) - Saturday, February 25, 2018
Cadman High Rock Quarry (Monroe, WA) - Saturday, November 11, 2017
The club had the rare opportunity to visit the Cadman Quarry in Monroe, WA. Thank you to the Cadman staff for their graciousness. We were provided access to a collecting area that had calcite, agate & common opal. The site was prepared for us ahead of time. A briefing was presented that gave interest information on the history and operation of the quarry.

Lake Creek Garnets - Saturday, August 5th, 2017
We will be meeting at the Monroe Park & Ride (adjacent to & to the west of the Evergreen Fairgrounds parking lot) at 5:45 AM (leaving at 6 AM).
We'll join the Marysville Club at the Lake Wenachee Forest Ranger Station at 9 AM (located on Little Wenatchee River Road, Hwy 207, which is north of Lake Wenatchee).
From the Ranger Station, we will be going to the Heather Lake Trailhead parking lot.
Warning: Roads NF-6701 & NF-400 on the way to the trailhead are rough in areas. It is recommended that you bring a vehicle with adequate clearance. If you don't have a truck, please consider carpooling with someone who does.
Needed equipment: light shovel, 1/4" screen, tweezers, boots, sunscreen, food & water
If you don't have a screen, a food strainer will also work
The distance from the trailhead to the garnet hunting site is approximately 1.5 miles with a gradual grade.
Expect water depths of 1/2 to 2 feet. Boots are a good idea because the water is cold, but sandals also work OK.

Saddle Mountain Pertified Wood - May 21, 2016
Glacial Erratic - May 28, 2016
Stubb's Hill / Cedar Ponds Field Trip - February 28, 2015
Another great field trip! We dug in the main pit area, near the road, and in a new location. Red jasper and dark jasper with red and yellow streaks was found in the main pit (I got 30 pounds, some of it is shown below). In the new area the jasper was red/orange.
Blanchard Hill Field Trip - January 24, 2015
We had a great time on our field trip to Mt. Blanchard. Nine adults and three juniors joined in the search for Stilpnomelane and Green Chert using hammers, chisels, and pry bars. Soapstone was found on the east edge of the Stilpnomelane outcrop. Lots of Chatoyant Soapstone was found about 100 yards away along a creek.
Stubb's Hill Field Trip - August 8, 2014
The club hosted a field trip for an American Heritage Girl Troop from Everett on Aug. 8th. The girls found specimens of fossilized leaves, opal, and jasper, which helped them with their requirements for the Geology Merit Badge. On the way back, they visited a stream that runs through the remains of a collapsed lava tube.
